FFC Baits was established in 2006.
Originally producing baits for the specimen and match angler, but with the growing interest of carp anglers Neil Williamson and Chris Thripp teamed up, these two heads have come together to produce some of the best baits that offer the angler a top quality bait at a very reasonable price to meet everyone's budget. Quality is not compromised, as all the baits sold are tested and used by us at FFC Baits. All baits have been tested on hard waters producing some devastating results and some wonderful specimen fish, photos can be seen throughout this catalogue, on Facebook or on our website. www.ff-custombaits.co.uk Base mixes ALL contain top quality ingredients with the perfect balance of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, appetite stimulators, flavours and aminos, giving the fish a perfect diet, yet the flavours and stimulators will keep them coming back for more. Boilies, pastes and pop ups are made to order so you can always be assured of a fresh top quality bait. See Chris Thripps articles in the following books, Urban Carping and Rivers End.
Chris has been carp fishing for 40+ years and producing and testing bait for over 35 years. His goal has always been to develop a unique fully nutritional base mix built from scratch, this would be the foundation to add his own unique innovative additives stimulants and flavours. His number one goal was to produce a bait of a high quality full of nutrition, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, specialised sugars, and salts all within the base mix. Cost and time was not an option, it just had to be done. He was also determined to develop from this, a genuine all year round mix, which had never been achieved. Many companies have developed winter flavours but never an all round combination. After years of development and testing, finally the pearl base mix was born. Now with Chris’s tried and tested unique additives and flavour combos, it was time to put it all together and get testing. Testers were gathered with Chris leading the way, he picked a 300 acre clay pit, one of the most difficult lakes to fish in the country. His thinking was if it worked on there it would work anywhere. Well he need not have been worried, as after tucking himself in a bay corner of this giant lake, all members laughed at his choice telling him no fish had been seen or caught in that area for over 10 years. With most members blanking years and seasons on this lake, Some of the countries top anglers have been seen off by this water. It was a tall order and an amazing test for his new pearl boilies. Five months later and with over 50 runs including 4 30lb+ carp (2 in 48 hours) and a new lake record under his belt, Pearl was an amazing success backing up and cementing Chris Thripp as the most successful angler ever to fish this water. Also capturing some 40’s also on the Pearl. If this was not enough, Chris had been for years developing a PH dropper, in the form of a natural additive. Carp detect their natural food from very far away by a PH drop in the water. Blood worm have a PH of 5.5, so running along side his own base mix, flavours and additives,
he wanted to PH drop the bait. In that same season, following his success on Pearl he added the PH drop and it was even more amazing. In the dead of that winter over 20 20lb carp and fish to 34lb were caught, and the cobra was born, a fishmeal version of the pearl. Chris made a 2oz additive of the highest quality fishmeal ingredients on the planet. This was added to pearl base mix. Amazing innovation and amazingly successful. Many lake records and personal bests, by who ever used the mixes. 2 30lb pbs in 24 hours for Luke Marvin, and his father, and another 2 30’s for Lee Mooring, at an Aylesbury day ticket lake, also in 24hours. Proving if used it will catch the bigger fish and uncaught, unknowns in any water. Tester Gary Edwards had a PB, and lake record 45lb common, after taking other lake records on his previous lakes. Tom Marvin had a 43lb PB and lake record mirror within his first couple of sessions on a new lake. Now proven with many anglers in the know who use any of Chris's mixes. The bait world is a difficult place to be, with many of the bigger companies having large advertising budgets and over exaggerating the quality and catch rates of their baits. Any new bait has to stand out from the crowd, and not just compete but out fish the rest. Just read the testimonials from users, and Chris Thripps mixes, juices and glugs, will change your catch rate. Chris says regularly to first time users of the Thripster Pearl, “try it on one rod and 2 rods on your normal bait, and like many, you will be pleasantly surprised, if not shocked”...
Thanks for reading.
Chris Thripp is very approachable, and readily discuses any bait details or anything you have on your mind to do with carp fishing.

Neil has been fishing for 40+ years, and has spent most of that time fishing for pleasure and match fishing. With plenty of match wins under his belt, he decided to develop his own baits. After a lot of trial and error, he developed a paste that he used with great success in matches, to take plenty of top 3 places. A couple of those match wins included beating 5 times world champion Bob Nudd (the photo above shows Bob Nudd handing Neil his match winnings). After some shoulder problems and operations, Neil was forced to give up match fishing, and decided to concentrate on chasing one of his childhood favourites (the carp anglers worst enemy) the bream. During this time chasing his first double figure bream, Neil met Chris Thripp at a Bedfordshire club water. After many hours of talking they both realised that they had something that the other wanted, Knowledge and a passion to make their favourite past time into a business. Neil had the knowledge of pleasure and match fishing, and also the knowledge of administrative work, producing labels for packaging and building a website. Whilst Chris with his 40+ years’ experience had an extensive knowledge of carp, bait testing, some fantastic ideas and more importantly the understanding of what the fish need in their diet. Chris had studied this for over 35 years, the many ingredients that go into making carp baits,
and with Chris' ability to come up with an idea and Neil to be able to produce the goods, they both decided that they were the missing link in each other’s future and could with each other’s help, take their dreams of making and supplying a brilliant fishing bait a reality. Utilising some of his own ideas and mixing in some of Chris' ideas, Neil developed a specimen ground bait. This ground bait has top quality additives (some of which are used in the boilie base mix) and attracts large bream, tench and also carp. Some of these photos can be seen in our gallery. At the testing stage Neil had his first English 100lb+ net or in this case 3 keep nets of bream. With two previous catches of 50lb 1oz, and 73lb Neil decided that his third catch which was fished testing on one rod whilst using a normal ground bait on the other, with the tweaked bait on one rod taking nearly all his 128lb 13oz catch, proved that this specialist G-bait was ready to go. After the success with the specialist G-Bait, A specimen carp G-Bait was created, using the Thripster Pearl base mix in the specimen carp G-Bait to make sure that it was more suited for carp, this was also tested with great success. All the testers that have used the carp G-Bait have said how much it had improved their catch rate, especially when fished with the Thripster Pearl boilie. Don't just take FFC Baits Thripsters word for it. ...Try it for yourself.
Also whilst testing G-baits, Neil broke his PB carp 3 times with carp of 22lb 8oz, 26lb and 32lb.
